UNRAVELLING PATTERN

[DE]FORMATIONS

[de]formations is an experimental technique of connecting multiple patterns into one, harmonious body. I strive to bridge the timeless beauty of traditional motifs with contemporary aesthetics. [de]formations pay homage to the intricate construction techniques that have been perfected over centuries, while also pushing the boundaries of these patterns through innovative forms.

In the bottom right corner, the pattern consists of horizontal, vertical, and diagonal lines emerging from the center. As it progresses toward the bottom left, the lines transform into a 90° star (formed by two overlapping squares), with every other tip radiating a small square. Moving to the top left corner, the stars gradually morph into octagons, and the small squares transition into small octagons. From there, continuing to the top right, the octagons evolve into acute-angled stars, while the smaller shapes become four-pointed acute stars. Dropping back from the top right to the bottom right, the acute stars dissolve back into structured lines.

The transformation happens so seamlessly that the shift between forms is barely perceptible, creating a dynamic yet harmonious flow across the composition.
