GLASS & MIRROR MOSAICS

One of my favorite techniques. Glass and mirror mosaics start with plain glass, painted on the reverse side. This process, known as Reverse Glass Painting, requires applying colors in reverse order: top colors first, background last. Once finished, the glass is flipped, and the image is viewed through it. I enjoy experimenting with special pigments that shift colors depending on the light, appearing white, violet, or green from different angles. For my golden pieces, I create my own golden mirror by gilding the glass with 24 ct leaf gold (a personal preference). Once painted, the glass is cut into tiny pieces, all by hand—no power tools. These pieces are then carefully assembled into the mosaic.
