GLASS & MIRROR MOSAICS
one of my favourite techniques. Everything starts with plain glass that is painted from the back side. It is called Reverse Glass painting because you have to apply colours in reverse order - top colours go first and background colour goes last (as opposite to standard painting). Then the glass is turned over and image is viewed through the glass. Here I like to experiment witch special pigments that shift colours according to current light (e.g. same colour can appear as white, violet or green hue).
For golden pieces I made my own golden mirror, starting again with plain glass that is gilded with 24ct leaf gold (my personal preference).
Then glass is cutted into tiny pieces, I'm cutting everything by hand, no power tools used. Mosaic is then assembled together.
